ABOUT ME

MY STORY

My name is Daniel Alfredo Francis Garcia. I’m 30 years old, and I was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA. My family has been in New Mexico for generations, and we’ve held onto our traditions, cultures, and languages for a long time. It’s something I’m really proud of.

When I was a kid in elementary school, I remember flipping through an encyclopedia and seeing these colorful pages with pictures of men. I was curious and asked my teacher, Mrs. Julian, who they were. She told me they were the Presidents of the United States. That got me interested. Through middle school and high school, I learned more about what the president does and how they can make a difference for people.

When I was in community college, I had a girlfriend named Maria Pearse. She was my world. Unfortunately, she passed away in 2013, and it was one of the hardest times of my life.

In 2022, I was just sitting at home on the couch watching TV when I felt my grandma in my heart. It was like I could hear her saying, “Mojito, you’ve got to do something with your life. You can’t just sit around all day watching TV.” That hit me hard, and it pushed me to get involved. I started volunteering for the Knights of Columbus, the Democratic Party of Bernalillo County, the Young Democrats of New Mexico, and the New Mexico Genealogical Society.

I’ve been a Democrat for 12 years now, and I’ve seen a lot of what’s happening in our country and in New Mexico. People are struggling with rising costs—groceries, housing, medical bills—it’s tough out there, and it’s only getting harder for families. As Secretary of the Democratic Party of New Mexico, I want to work with Democrats all over the state to help address these challenges and bring real change.

It’s not going to happen overnight, but I’m ready to work hard. I want to hear from county chairs, ward chairs, and precinct chairs across New Mexico. I want to know what they need and how I can support them. I’m reminded of a quote from Robert Frost: “I have promises to keep and miles to go before I sleep.” That’s how I feel about this. I will keep my promises, and I will work hard for the people of New Mexico.

I’m asking for your vote. Let’s come together to build a stronger Democratic Party and a better future for our state.

Viva La Vida - Long Live Life

Viva la Vida: A Lesson From My Grandma

"Viva la Vida"—"Live the Life"—is more than just words; it’s a way of being. My grandmother taught me its meaning through her actions, showing me how to embrace life’s joys and face its challenges with grace. She lived fully, finding beauty in simple moments and resilience in hard times.

Now, as an adult, I carry her lesson with me. To live the life means to grow, to cherish the present, and to create happiness wherever I can. Her wisdom reminds me that life is a gift, and I strive every day to honor it.
